A new innovative CETP project CTS – CO2 TRANSPORT AND STORAGE DIRECTLY FROM A SHIP has STARTED!
CTS project Kick-off meeting, Brussels, Belgium [05-07.02.2024]
At the end of 2023, in December, a new innovative CETP (CTS) project of injection of CO2 directly from the ships for permanent geological storage of carbon dioxide in the offshore structures called CTS – CO2 TRANSPORT AND STORAGE DIRECTLY FROM A SHIP, has been started.

The first kick-off meeting was held in Brussels on 5-7 February 2024. Ten participants of the project (NORCE NORWEGIAN RESEARCH CENTRE AS – the project leader (Norway), Brevik Engineering (Norway), NEMO MARITIME AS (Norway), UNIVERSIDADE DE EVORA (Portugal), DANMARKS TEKNISKE UNIVERSITET – DTU (Denmark), WELLPERFORM APS (Denmark), INSTITUTE NATIONAL DE CERCETARE- DEZVOLTARE PENTRU GEOLOGIE SI GEOECOLOGIE MARINA- INCD GeoEcoMar (Romania), two independent consultancies from Ukraine and Ukrgasvydobuvannya – UGV daughter of “Naftogaz of Ukraine” (Ukraine) and our SHOGenergy consulting company (Estonia), are planning to develop a new mobile technology of CO2 injection directly from the ships and to make CCUS technology more reliable and economic, and model suitable scenarios for storage sites in the Baltic, Black, North Seas and Atlantic coast of Portugal.
SHOGenergy is responsible for the Baltic scenario and leading Work Package 2: Screening the candidates in different geographical areas and scenario creation. The project is represented by Dr. Kazbulat Shogenov (president of SHOGenergy), Dr. Alla Shogenova (director of research at SHOGenergy), and Dr. Mustafa Usta (researcher at SHOGenergy).
The Estonian Ministry of Climate (Kliimaministeerium) fully supports Estonian SHOGenergy. This is the first time the Estonian Ministry of Climate fully financially supported an Estonian national company. We are happy to be the first and promise to meet expectations and do our best according to our experience.
The meeting was sponsored by Naftogaz of Ukraine and took place in their room, which is linked to the European Parliament facilities.
